I think what you read was that aquarium fish aren't suppose to be re-released into the wild due to exposure of bacteria and pathogens that are not present in the wild.

Most chemicals are diluted through water change and if you compare a lot of the meds we use they are used in human pharmaceuticals as well but just different grades of it.

All joking aside I wonder what the fine is for a snakehead. And I hauled a bunch of barrier walls to the place in lockport IL were they put the electric wall in the shipping canal to keep the carp out of lake Michigan.

Last I heard $10,000 and 5 years. NOT worth it.

I heard the stories about if you owned a breeding group of illegal fish, the fines are even higher than total of the fines per one fish. I don't know if it is true.

Hmm. I'm not sure about that, unless there were fry present, I feel like they'd have a tough time proving that your fish were a breeding pair. However I'm sure they'd slam you with a per-fish fine. And if you have fry....wooo that would be a huge fine if it's per fish. I've seen snakehead nests, they're upwards of 10,000 fry sometimes.

I hope nobody get any ideas if they start to keep & breeding feral snakeheads in home aquarium. I'm curious just how much a fine for an Asian arowana and a walking catfish since both are common illegal fish in United States besides the snakeheads.

It's very different from state to state, but the federal fines for illegal fish are all the same. They're covered under the Lacey Act. That's the $250,000 and 5 years in jail penalty. Here's a link to all of the species considered "injurious" by the Feds. The ones covered under the Lacey Act carry the penalty above.

Don't see Asian Arowanas though, hmm. I'm sure there are other rulings somewhere that I'm not seeing.
