Stupid things you hear at petshops.

Yeah, when I tell people that there fish will grow big and they will be forced to upgrade their tank,I will occasionally get this response... I refuse to sell these people fish, and have gotten complaints filed on me and managers called over, the whole nine yards...


So today this guy (musta been drunk, sounded it anyway) came in and asked if its ok to ingest salt water... When i explained that it might make him vomit (depending on the quantity), but it won't kill him he proceeded to explain (in an odd almost sensual way) how he likes to heat it up and have people massage it on his back, but was worried he'd absorb so much of it he'd die through his skin... After reassuring him numerous times that he wouldn't he explained his wife won't do it anymore for him and asked if I knew anyone who would.... I was never more uncomfortable in my life,so of course I pointed him to my nearest coworker and said he'd do it for him and walked away as quickly as possible and just watched as my friends discomfort grew hahahaha

I know it isn't fish related, but definitely shocking... I might add that I work in Poughkeepsie new York which is where multiple mental institutions lost their funding a while back and most the crazies were let loose to breed and multiply...

Haha! That's great! I used to be a retail manager for years and we did that kind of thing all the time! I just crapped my pants at my desk! Just hilarious.

Yup. I feed mine a mix of foods to keep them healthy.
 
Last Monday a mom, her son and the G-ma came in and was looking at the fish in the fish room and ask me don't they bite (as she pointing at the RBP) i said no and i put my hand in and they swam to the other side of the tank... That Piranha 3DD movie is making people think they bite... :screwy:

some of these thing sound so crazy im starting to think you guys lie! lol jus kiddin. this isnt what some1 at my LFS said but rather what they do.

A "Pets Supplies Plus" store near me keeps some tanks of about 4in goldfish. they are about 10 gallon tanks(by estimating from looking) with(in some of the tanks) up to 50 of these goldfish! they have at least 40 bettas in little cups with no holes or anything for at least a TINY bit of air. and they keep a little like 20 gal tank with like 10 JD's 7 oscars and a few firemouths(all juvies at like 3 in, but still that crazy.

i got kicked out last week for screaming at they"fish area manager" for telling a lady and her kid (like 5 years old) that they couldnt put a goldfish in a bowl. he told them that in their like 3 gallon bowl they could put in up to 10 "feeder goldfish(comets)" 1 or 2 plecos( he called them "algae eaters") and a school of 10 neon tetras.(at least he knows tetras go in a school). all of those fish in a 3 gallon tank....insane.

before that(like a month ago) i told the employee that they should move one of those firemouths into a new tank(im talking about the one above) because the others were attacking it. so he follows me over to look and by that time the fish was almost in half(brutal fish!) and he said they were just playing and walked away!

and BTW, this isnt were i buy my fish from. i buy my fish from 2 different good stores near me. this is just were i buy my snakes food because it is only like 5 min away when i walk. im a car it like 1 min. i just look around when i go there.
