Kamalau (KML) used to be a different strain of Flowerhorn than it is now but it is essentially dead now. Now there is Thai KML which is what every KML is now. KML is essentially a ZZ mix. There is a bit more too it when it comes to the KML that you get from professionally breeders but when you cross ZZ x Thai Silk (ZZ) you get F1 KML. So a RD x Silk would make a F1 KML since Red Dragon is ZZ. Incase you don't know F1 would be generation 1 and in hybrids is different that F1 in pure fish.

Kamfamalau is Kamfa x KML which is entirely different to Kamalau. Your male may be Kamfamalau but I see no reason to call it such. What I think it is a case of mistaken identity, what they are selling is KML over there.

Yeah chris thanks for the knowledge bro. However... The kml mine is..its 3rd generation. Ive sent pics to thailand professional breeders and julia tranh just to make sure i was buyin the right thing cause you guys are much more experienced than me. They all said its a high grade kml but was suprised i had it in australia. My kml is from a farm in thailand btw not local.

Oh and update on the crazy behaviour he had..is now completely gone after moving him back to my room.lol...i am in the process of finding him a gurl to try and extend his strain..since hes the only one here...otherwise i woild not breed lol... The female i was going to buy for him..seller backed out...wasting my time...lol

bro that fish owner is eric...i went to his house to see it live. not really kamfa malau...bred locally. he would not sell kml for $300 if it was a kamfa malau lol.

or i would have purchased him to. if you see on that post ppl asked him "how thats kamfa malau"

thanks for sharing though mate. good to see more Australian fh lovers on mfk :-):-)

I'm sorry bro but I'm going to burst your bubble. Your fish is no where near high quality KML. Most people say such nice words so you won't get your feelings hurt. Most people who really aim at quality fish will pass on that fish long before they even make it as their last option of buying it. A lot of people on this board don't dare to tell the truth to you as well. But I'll be the first one to do so this time. Sorry but truth be told...

Not a problem. The taste in flowerhorn depend on yourself. Since FH is hybrid...it depends on taste. But no offence sir, being in california, its easy to say that.... you guys literally have no regulations.

I could live in Cali and get 10 times better quality fh than what I have now. Its about the location and value of the fish in your location. You pay how much for a saratoga Jaradini? We pay $30 here lol....

It all depends on the quality for the location. And I must disagree, I have kept fish for a long time...and have seen to many flowerhorns... I pretty much know mine is a high quality KML, might not be the HIGHEST, but I know its above decent.

And in Californa you guys can import directly from thailand or vietnam... even though 80% of the fh there are injected with hormones to make it look good for you guys in Cali and USA lol...but like I said, FH cant be found in Australia as the ones you have in Cali.

And about the forum? People do share real thoughts, I have had criticism for this fish also, so its just how you handle it and how you think of your fish.
