I'm trying to get rid of the hang ons. So I figured I'd get some info on the sump and canister first. I heard the canisters are a lot of work. Don't know anything about sumps.

Haha a canister that can compete with a hob bio wheel? Are you joking? Almost any canister is better. Eheim2262 fx5 xp4 and on and on, no filtration bypass and btw the fx5 can holds over 5 gals of water....1.5 gal of media capacity, imo ac110 is a better hob but still nothing compared to a good canister or even sump at that. I used to be old school and think my hobs were awesome but once u try a sump or can ull know what im talking about lol
I run two ac110s on my 75 and they have no problems and maintenance is easy. I have a sump, canister and two ac110s on my 220 and really prefer hob myself for ease of use. Canisters are not bad at all....mine is like every 2 months to clean out and takes like 15 minutes. The sump is just a matter of the padding and sucking up some dirt every now and then during water changes.

I have 5 canisters(3 eheim 2028, one sunsun and one eheim 2262) on my 300; the new one is the 2262, the rest were from my old tanks(I was too cheap to buy a second 2262).
Works well, over the last 7 month, I only had to clean out one of the canisters. The flow rate has not reduced at all on the 2262 during that time.
Holy crap overload of info lol I was pushing more toward sump but the fx5 is highly possible concidering a store not too far from Mr has brand new for $250
