Is this tank big enough for this stock?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You are quite the funny character with those pics you know that!

Andrew any new updates on the stock? Maybe an elephant or midget t-rex? seriously though any changes yet?

ROFLMAO! HAHAHHAH!
Here is my new stock ideas. You just reminded me lol
10-bristlenose plecos
3-oscars
3- dempseys
3- jags
2- Texas
2- cuban
2- red devil
2- green terror
That's just off my head. Would this work better? If not what of these combinations would work? I really want to jags and the oscars and dempseys must stay as I already have them. Any other large cichlids to add to the list? Any catfish? Also if possible ill add a school of 12 clown loaches. But I know they are slow growers so id have to see how that would work out. Any ideas on some waste eaters? I really don't want to drop like $100 on some clown loaches as I'd spend thousands on a large enough school.

I might get rid of the oscars and dempseys :( I only kept them because they are very unique. I mean look at this male Dempsey! uploadfromtaptalk1337495249679.jpg
And look at this Oscar!

Blood Parrots were fine and not really an issue. Removing the Jags helps a bit. Personally don't like Dempsey, they are kinda trashy but its not my opinion that matters. I would avoid the Oscars in general with the kind of Cichlids your are looking at. Also recommend Midas (Amphilophus Citrinellus) over Red Devils. This is Anubisscott's pair

if your tank is as big as you say it will be you should get forgo the small cichlids and get a clown knife along a handful of other large semi aggressive fish. they're pretty cheap for common variaties and get massive quickly.

I love clown knives! But, people say the tank is overstocked? lol its like 35 square feet for about 30 fish. And 10 which don't need anymore than 1/10 th of this tank size. Could a clown knife work?

if you forget the cons, BNs and about half the bigger cichlids, but a single big clown knife is far more impressive then a bunch of big cichlids that look almost identical aside from size and colour

What can go with clown knives? I might get a JAG pair. A flowerhorn pair maybe? I know clown knives can eat some fish. So I might just get rid of everything except the jd pair, the Jag pair. And I might get some other really aggressive cichlids to go with those. Now that I know I can get a clown knife I might change the full stock I want. I'll wait until I get it to decide on a "final" stock and then ill get it after I have the tank. But, for now I'm fine with just playing around with stock ideas. But, I'm not only worried about this. Look at my other threads in DIY and setup sections. I'm worried about the tank more than the stock right now.

Andrew why don't you put this tank off for awhile? First be able to run your 55 properly before you jump into something bigger. Also read up on the nitrogen cycle and tropical fish and natives in terms of basic requirments and so on. When I was your age I knew the answers to all the silly questions you keep asking over and over and that was way before the internet. Also when older more experianced hobbyist would tell me stuff I would listen to them instead of wait for some answer I want to hear.
