How many here have eaten their red tailcat or another fish?

first off your wrong as endangered species here. you are allowed to catch, and consume any leapord shark over 4' here. and their is a very healthy population! now the market for commercial fishing is very popular but is now regulated cause it was out of control before any rules were put in place! i did speak with a fish and game officer and he said the only catch was its illegal to transport any native fish live here and said dont do again witch i havent. but i do go out and catch me some tasty shark for a nice bbq when i got time.

as for the false demands on the lfs i buy from the wholesale transshippers. i cherry pic. my few rtc out of about 200 that come in each week.
as for recipe i use butter, onion, garlic and lemon. on the bbq then serverd over rice! amazing.

Its still endangered. I'm aware of then 4' law but I still don't think that's acceptable people should let them go regardless. The government should ban them until they are off the endangered list. Not saying what you did was wrong but as a whole spesh us fish keepers should try are best not to kill off any more leopard sharks and let them retain to a healthy population before we do.

I thought anything endangered is prohibited from any collection?

If catching 4' is legal then I don't see how would be endangered. The two words, endangered and legal size don't go together in the same sentence.

howed you eat it by accident? please do tell? did it taste good? sushi?

i have no problem eating fish, just not my pet fish. also it offends me when someone asks do you ever eat your fish. "no, have you ever eaten your dog/cat?" yeah, stfu...... thats just my 2 cents

There is no logical defence behind this. Honestly, I am sorry if I sound rude, but you should not be keeping anything.

I am not going to call you a hobbyist or a monster fish keeper. The term "fish farmer" suits you more. Go dig up a pond, and farm fish...that way you can eat all you want. Are your local food stores running out of fish or meat?

How could you actually eat something, you raised..fed..did water changes for and cared for? Sorry mate, I am a hobbyist, can't support you on that decision.

first of all, my mom is asian and she had a dog for a pet named jumpy, and when he got to the right side her mother said it was time, and they pitted it over a fire and ate it. There is nothing wrong with eating your pets, its the same as eating your live stock like on the farm. Let him do what he wants.

this is true. im a city boy through and through. but my wife was raised on a farm. and out. there they would buy chicks, ducklings, piglets and so on. raise them and the eat them. the kids would each get thier own to care for. honostly it depends on how attached you are to the creature and even what you beliefs are. when you go to a meet market in a local town your probebly buying some young boys pet cow.

its funny how people have been raised to think a chicken is the 6 back of legs you get wrapped at the grocery store lol.

its ok you can say im not a hobbiest because i can eat a catfish ive raised. maybe im more of a hobbiest then you are cause i love going through and enjoing the differnt stages of the fish and also the personalities that come out more in each fish. also to note this whole process takes a good year and a half. and thats already 5 years of watching, careing for and eating rtc! and all in a home aquarium which is more hobby like then raiseing the guy until hes to.big and throwing in a pond until he dies.

Well to each its own, on this topic it appears. Though I can't say I'd eat my own fish, usually becasue when it died it was from some type disease or from unknown reason, that just does not seem safe to me.
