But to your point I said if I was looking for biological filtration and some salesman tell me to buy carbon, that would be a scam. Would you agree with that?

it would only be a scam if the person that sold it to you knew it wasn't a good biological media. otherwise it's just the ignorant leading the ignorant.
for something to be a scam you must be mislead into a purchase by someone knowing that they are ripping you off.

Yes I read the whole post but carbon itself isn't a scam. But if some salesperson was to tell you carbon was for bio filtration then that would a scam

Consider this,the heater in my 180 just died and I wasn't able to immediately run out and get a replacement.I did keep an eye on my thermometer and the temp has dropped from eighty to low seventies over the course of the day.I have noticed my fish are less active and are eating less.

This is like people keeping a husky outside in Florida. And a person in Canada keeping a naked chihuahua. You can do it. Will your dog/fish be happy and live as happy or healthy as they could no. So in the end it's all your personal out look. Some people just don't give a crap were some people such as my self consider this a hobby and a passion and won't cheap out. I paid good money for my fish why would I cut corners?
