You are correct. 2 X + my truck which has all the bells and whistles. I used to be amazed that people could afford Malibus. I found out how--no down payment, long long term loans (20+ years). That makes the payments under $400 a month. So single 30-yr-olds can have nice toys. It doesn't seem to matter that they don't own homes and will be in their 50s before they have their boats paid off. I think most plan to unload their boats before the boats are paid off....probably upgrade to a new model. The boat priority will probably change once they start having kids and think about home buying.

For me, the boat is a celebration of life. I am a 3-year cancer survivor. I try to justify it by inviting kids from church, coworkers, friends. We have lots of guests and only have 3 open weekends left this summer. It is a surreal experience being on the lake.
 
You sound like a great person.being on the water is the greatest specially when u take someone out that has never been on a boat before

Came across this old thread. I, too, like the name of the thread, but especially like how you invited ladies to join in your first line. Have been reflecting how much much things have changed in the 3+ years since this thread was started. In our economic hard times, 30 somethings cannot get financing on a whim for a wakeboard boat. My boat dealer went out of business several years ago. My boat saleman drives a sewer pumper truck. Every summer there are less boats on the lake...which means better water quality for us...
Still have the boat and truck which were housed at home for the first time ever this past winter, thanks to our fish. The need for a bigger pacu tank necessitated tearing down our garage to make a fish room. So we have a new garage. So it's not a "man" thing, it's a "fishkeeping" thing! :)

Thanks for sharing cichlid fiend and pacu mom, I hoped more ladies would have taken part. I dont know about anywhere else but here in Socal the ladies definately love their hot rides. I love seeing a serious street machine with a Hello Kitty sticker in the window. Their are two asian girls in my hood that have sick rides, one drives a WRX and the other a S2000. Both are smokin hot and I love harassing both of them!
