You are correct. 2 X + my truck which has all the bells and whistles. I used to be amazed that people could afford Malibus. I found out how--no down payment, long long term loans (20+ years). That makes the payments under $400 a month. So single 30-yr-olds can have nice toys. It doesn't seem to matter that they don't own homes and will be in their 50s before they have their boats paid off. I think most plan to unload their boats before the boats are paid off....probably upgrade to a new model. The boat priority will probably change once they start having kids and think about home buying.
For me, the boat is a celebration of life. I am a 3-year cancer survivor. I try to justify it by inviting kids from church, coworkers, friends. We have lots of guests and only have 3 open weekends left this summer. It is a surreal experience being on the lake.
