AWESOME? or just Publicity Stunt?

He didn't actually qualify tho, so they're bending the rules to allow him to race, therefore possibly a Publicity Stunt... If he wasn't disabled, they'd never let him race if didn't qualify.

Well he did run times that qualified him, just not at the right meets. Also, he is their only entrant in the 400. I'd say its half publicity, half awesome but either way, good for him. He deserves the chance.

Well that's a technicality that would have prevented any other athlete from competing... if Phelps didn't qualify during the Olympic trials, he wouldn't have been allowed just cause he did well last year...

But I agree with your half/half statement, its AMAZING that he's able to compete at these levels!

I say let the man run. Its his dream and he's worked soo hard to get to where he is today. He's earned his chance to compete in my eyes.

I wonder how they will check to make sure there isnt "EXTRA" spring in his step.

However sarcastic this may or may not have been meant, I think its a legitimate question. How do they determine whether he has an advantage because of his prosthetic legs? I mean there are a lot of things that can be done to them to make them stronger than the human legs his competitors will be running on. Think of the precedent this will set....
