Before everyone starts saying how small the tank is for these fish, I will say these fish won't be in here much longer. Their new home will be a 225g Plywood & Glass tank that I am currently constructing. This tank is purely a grow-out tank for them until the 225g is done. As to what I will do with it when they're out, I'm not sure. Maybe a planted community tank?
Anyway, on with the pics. I will be using this thread as an overall progress thread for this tank so there will be more pics to come!
STOCK:
-Endlicheri Bichir (polypterus endlicheri endlicheri)
-Nigerian Senegalus (polypterus senegalus senegalus)

Looks great. Careful with the gravel though with the bichirs.

I've had these two in an all gravel tank for a while before they went in here with the gravel/sand mix. I have seen them scratched up here and there, but it's never been anything to worry about. The 225g will most likely be all sand though.

nice fish and tank! keep us updated on the plywood tank!

thanks! I have a thread on the 225g build, but no pics yet. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?490666-225-Gallon-Plywood-Tank-Build
Once I have the stand done I will start taking pics of the actual tank build. I ordered my waterproofing(UG Liquid Rubber) from Rubberizeit last night and I am looking around for good glass prices so the thread should have some good updates soon!

Nigerian sen?? Is it wild caught?

Nigerian sen?? Is it wild caught?

nope, tank raised. I see some wild caught ones every now and then, but my LFS usually has tank raised juveniles.
I call them Nigerian Senegalus instead of Senegal Bichir just because that's what they're labeled at my LFS so it stuck with me. I'm also not good with latin/scientific names so the majority of my posts will have common names.

Can anyone help sex my Poly's? I've read some things on it, but I'm still not 100% on it. I don't have a good enough pic of the Senegalus yet, but here's the Endlicheri:

I think my Endlicheri is a female based on what I read, but like I said, I'm still not 100%
