Red tail catfish pond HELP !

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
probably shouldnt have bought these fish. they are crazy expensive to feed and grow stupid quick. i barely had time to set up my 500g when i bought my rtcxtsn. warning: mine went from 1.5"-23" in just over 8months. get the pond built now!

i ll make it as big as i can when i ll have to make it but will be between 500-620 g max becouse the space is a problem as i can t make it in the backyard couse of the winter as if i d have only spring and summer i d make a 5000 g in the backyard and any disscusions about space for fish will be resolved ...i ll see what i can do but how i said for a time this is the new home wright now i gave him some goldies that i fished today and 2 pumpkinseeds they ll be the dinner this night :headbang2

If it fits in their mouth they will eat it most of the time. Pacus are a good fish to keep with them. I keep a small hybrid shovelnose with mine. And there is a big size difference but my rtc is rather weird. Shell eat feeders the size of the hybrid but wont touch him. They sit in a PVC pipe cave together so I'm not worried about him getting eaten. In my personal opinion I think if you keep it fed enough it wont bother anything really to a point. IV also kept half inch cray fish in with mine and she wouldn't bother them unless I didn't feed. I also think it depends on the fish. Mine is far from aggressive and is rather shy

i ve been to a petshop and saw 3 4-5 inch pacus and i thought about buying one but i didn't as the redtail will grow bigger and the pacu too so i got thanked with my lovely redtail and i won't add any fish soon becouse this is the only fish i sought for one year but i didnt found it and i simply love this little monster so no other tankmates or at least not now ....when i ll get a bigger pond maybe......someone told something about expensive care , food is not a problem is very cheap for me as well as the other equipament but this doesn't mean it s that cheap

Why get a fish if you can't properly look after it?.
Honestly, the people who are saying, "that's fine, it's YOUR FISH", get a hold if your selves. Just because it's his fish, doesn't mean he shouldn't give it at least decent living conditions.
Save for a bigger tank, or please let it go to a better home.

yeah and that's why i didn't bought one ...for the red tail is enough space for a time but how i said i ll upgrade when needed ...i can give him to a better home probably but i can't ...i simply love this fish and this is another motivation for me to upgrade when he ll get bigger to a 600 gal pond
