well some people say plecos and polys aren't a good mix, but I've keep them together the entire time and have never had any problems. and I love catfish so I would say get a nice Tigrinis or something along those lines.

but don't let my comment make you think you can't keep cichlids with polys. you can keep them together, but like I said they will eat anything that fits in their mouth so as long as the cichlids are bigger than it's mouth you shouldnt have any problems. since the Kribs are a smaller species that's why I said keep an eye on them.

the reason all the fish are small is because ive just come back to the hobbie after a 1 year break. (bloody not having enough room!!!) i bought a tank which was full of malawi (which i thought i wanted) but after having them for a while i just missed my old set up with oscars and tinfoils and a bircher too much.

traded them in at LFS, got £108 for them which pretty much set me up!

what do you feed ur bircher?

mine get prawns and fish and blood worms. hell also take the chiclid pellets from the top too.

Mine get a variety of foods. They just recently started getting Massivore Pellets and they get a wide range of different live, frozen, and pellet food. Some off the top of my head; live goldfish, live rosies, live guppies, frozen beefheart, frozen bloodworms, frozen brine shrimp, Cichlid Gold pellets, Cichlid Staple pellets, and even Algae and Veggie wafers.

yeah ive noticed that hell pretty much eat what ever.... i love the crocodile head snatching they do..

do you know about keeping different species or more than 1 of the same in a tank?

i do love odd looking fish! the shovel head was the newest addition. he was being a bit boisterous in my brothers tank so we did a swap for a pim pictus.. i win that deal i think!!

Rosies are just a smaller feeder fish offered around here. I'm not sure what species they really are, but that's what they're referred to as around here. If I had to guess I would say they're minnows

and as for a feeder breeding tank, I think it would be a good idea. Gold fish and other feeders can be really dirty though and seem to get diseases easier especially when there are a lot in there. I've always tossed around the idea of a feeder breeding tank, but never got around to trying it

also you can keep different polys together but again try to make sure they're similar in size. I have a senegalus and an endlicheri in the same tank and plan to add a couple more species once they're moved to the 225g.

just googled it! minows

then had to google minows....

in the interes of saving some cash im also going to be looking into trying to set up a solar powered heater system.

luckely for me the tank is in the lounge so the room temp is always pretty stable and warm. i hardly ever see my heater light on!
