Not gonna debate it. Just watch how it plays out. The patrons called it an emergency exit, not me. If any of You believe a theater is not liable for ensuring the safety of 100s of people within a dark room then you have a poor grasp of US law. Regardless of how whatever state You live in defines " emergency door "

Actually it is you that have a poor grasp. You do know police have no legal duty to protect you right? If not them, then why do you think a theater is liable as long as they where following the law? The theater has 0 liability as long as they follow the law. My opinion they should since they made it a gun free zone.

awfully hard stance for someone who's leaving their mind open and waiting to see how it plays out.

i think it's fairly common knowledge to most people that the side exits (that lead to the parking lot or another lobby) are just that...exits. clearly even the shooter knew that. i have seen actual emergency exits throughout theatesr but usually they're in the lobby and clearly identified with signs that say not an exit, alarm will sound. if these other doors were labeled to trigger an alarm, the shooter simply would have entered another way and probably left an even larger trail of destruction. would people have known it were more serious if had he entered through the main entrances to the theater room? prob not

It must depend on the state. I've always seen them used as a fire exit. A "do not open unless yada yada yada" type of exit. Noone uses them in ohio. You walk around the stairs of the movie and they have doors near the back if your in a farther movie. Or walk out front. Idk if these exits even lead to the parking lot, I've never seen multiple doors on the side of a movie theatre. Maybe a huge hallway then to a main door. Who knows...their a mystery in ohio.

^ that appears to be the cause of confusion. seems colorado (where the shooting took place) is like the theaters here in the NW

Most all Movie Theaters have exits to the parking lots located in the theaters. These are not "Emergency Exits" per sa, but nothing more than an exit. it cuts door on traffic in between shows.

I am sure that they are calling it something it is not.

The idiot is sueing for a violent movie that he freely choose to go see???

Exactly what the hell is his problem no one forced him to see a violent cool movie(I renamed my fahakas name to bane lol)

reread Your post and tell me if that lessens the liability of the theater, as a matter of fact It seems like YOU were vouching for My previous senitments than arguing against it. doors labeled incoreectly is also cause for a lawsuit.

how are they labeled incorrectly? they're not emergency exits. nor did i waiver on my thoughts. this violence would've happen no matter how the shooter entered the building. would it have made you feel better if he had shot the guy at the gate and then entered from the regular entrance?

If he had entered through the lobby the police may have arrived sooner, And if the "emergency exits" were properly managed we wouldn't be having this discussion... The last time that I attended a movie at midnight there was a police officer in the lobby. things go down at certain places at certain times. regardless of the circumstances do You feel You should be able to sit in a dark theater and feel safe or not? Because You are coming off as a devils advocate, and he hasn't gone public yet in regards to running this country that we call America.
