Just Got Stung...What NoW?

Just for you JL . Unfortunately nothing too exciting going on. It's just red and a little swollen/tender. The pain isn't unbearable. It's nowhere near as bad as the time I got stunk by a foxface or basketball-sized RBTA. I think I'm gonna make it

If it is a real wound and not a superficial one, then alcohol is seriously recklessly bad advice. It will only speed up any envenomation as it thins the blood.

If you are not able to guarantee that the wound is clean then get yourself down to the ER

I got stung around 6PM. My heart sank as I saw the little guy raise its tail in my direction. I immediately pulled my hand out of the tank and inspected the damage. I noticed a clear fluid seeping from the spot where I got hit. I guess some oozed out (and boy am I grateful-this sucks enough). I bled on and off for a few min and have been dealing with intermittent pain ranging from a jackhammer to mild throb. It's been about two hours and the throbbing is still there but slowly getting better. Idk if the venom is breaking down, Buddha is doing its thing, or chivas taking hold. Either way, this is entirely too much excitement for a Monday evening!!

I would go to a doctor just to make sure nothing is in the wound.

I learned my lesson when I got tagged by my Aimara and a few teeth broke off in the wound. I've since invested in a mean magnifying lense and tweezers. This wound appears to be clean. I've inspected it and all appears to be clean. I guess we can chalk this one up as a valuable lesson learned. I'm just grateful it was from one of my ray pups and not a big girl!

wow...im kinda shocked, we keep a first aid book on stingray stings by the tank. A swell as have a handie book that would all end up coming to the hospital with us. Soak it in hot water and seek medical attention to treat possible secondary infections. Im sry to hear you got stun. We even have an eppie pen becauase gettin stung by a ray is similar to a bee in terms of there venom or so im told.
