Yup the common/grass carps and other roughfish suffered big time than esox. You can't believe how common with illegal dumping with dead roughfish is. I went to a public fishing area while on the job and there was lots of dead fish. I counted 54 carps, 8 bowfins, 37 bullheads, 4 buffaloes, 6 suckers, 5 rock bass and two northerns. You see that with every fish, carp are one of the biggest, commons and grass, save one fish and kill the rest....
I can honestly say I have turned 2 folks away from that, they were gals, when I put them on a big grass carp, they changed their mind. They both used to killem and call them "trash fish". They dont do it anymore. Also taught the both how to release them and not just chuck them back in the water. First time I saw a gal do that, I about messed myself... I had a little talk with her right then and there![]()
As for some posters in here that has an idea about leave a fish on bank and hoping a wild animal will take care of these fish....you are dead wrong. Most fish at the public fishing areas were untouched beside the flies and the maggots.
