Any of you evere keep Mangrove Snakes, I am wanting to get into Hots and that seems an ok first Hot.
what is IYO a good one, some have suggested Copperheads since they are pretty laid back and no overly dangerous.
Really the best first hot is one that's not yours rather you should work with a mentor beforehand. I believe that Louisiana has a permit system in place, so you might want to look into that as well before acquiring a venomous reptile.
Our permit system is a bit loopy, it requires you to have 500 hours of hands on experience before getting your permit, but the way it works is you buy a Hot, send in your request for a Permit, and then they wait a year before inspecting you so by that time you have your hours. Its the same for the Python/boa permits in state.
