Im still waiting on the import!!

I should have more information on that on Friday; hopefully it's something that we could pull off on our own in order to save time & money. Now just to see if the mambas arrive in decent shape.

Also, it's kind of funny that you replied to this thread at the exact same time as my mentor messaged me on Facebook. :)

Lol!!

Yeah hopefully.

Okay, so I apparently was off by a week on the meeting & the Jameson's mamba thing, so I'll be doing some training next Friday. On the bright side, I'm not getting compensated for the C. simus rather I'm getting a well-started Taylor's cantil (Agkistrodon bilineatus taylori) in exchange for it (which I was going to buy otherwise; saves me a small chunk of money). :D I might also be able to get some pictures of the mambas & some rhombic night adders (Causus rhombeatus) that came in as extras come next Friday.

Hopefully I'll have a nice picture update for you guys any day now of my current collection.

Any of you evere keep Mangrove Snakes, I am wanting to get into Hots and that seems an ok first Hot.

what is IYO a good one, some have suggested Copperheads since they are pretty laid back and no overly dangerous.

Really the best first hot is one that's not yours rather you should work with a mentor beforehand. I believe that Louisiana has a permit system in place, so you might want to look into that as well before acquiring a venomous reptile.

Our permit system is a bit loopy, it requires you to have 500 hours of hands on experience before getting your permit, but the way it works is you buy a Hot, send in your request for a Permit, and then they wait a year before inspecting you so by that time you have your hours. Its the same for the Python/boa permits in state.

Are you sure that you're not supposed to get those hours with someone who's already licensed? It does seem very odd that you can buy the animal before getting the permit.
