Male or female jack Dempsey?

Baby snappers do fine in the wild without any help from humans. Oh by the way the squirrels do not eat turtles.

Ya but when will the snapper be of proper size to fend off the other animals then.

Your missing the point, Cycle of life kid.. Is your snapper the last of its kind? Put it back! Bringing it into a less then adequate home environment was irresponsible.

He is from my pond. Not the wild. We have the turtles and my mom's boyfriends son stocked it with snappers and painted turtles in order to get babies for their old fish tanks. There were no fish originally in the pond, or turtles, we stocked it and made the pond. It's not the wild. The turtles are from the babies we had stocked about 5 years ago. I can put it in there, but I'd rather raise it, or keep it in a pond. So it's not the wild. It's my turtle to take. He used to take the turtles and keep them in their 55 until they were big then he put them back in.

At the snappers current size I don't think it would rely on actively defending itself. More likely it would rely on being unseen by predators to survive

Clean house man!! Put the turtle back where you got it. Do you live on a perpetually spinning cycle of random? Put it back free up the tank, move the breeding pair of cons over there and sell the oscar. Don't troll for ideas your not going to follow and ffs get the butter dish lid from behind your tank, it makes it look like crap.

Technically, they are still wild animals that can move in and out of your pond at any time. Nothing stops them from leaving the pond. It's interesting that you viewed them as a personal property simple because it simply lives on your property. In short words, you have no ownership over the wild animals.

The turtle is fine for now. I'm gonna try and sell the oscars. Gonna move the tank, add pfs and driftwood. See if that look works. Then the pair of jds, gonna set the cons up in a 30 if I can find one. Gotta get about 2 more jds that need I need to pair off with the current ones. Gonna keep the plecos until they all reach atleast 1 foot. What else could I do in a 55 with a pair of Dempseys? Would a Senegal work? My petsmart has some really cool ones.
