I have these things called pothos which keep my nitrates down in the 20 ppm range.

I could also change more water...but as it is, 20 ppm is good enough for me

Hey if i were you id put the 2 fx5s on there and add a 40 gallon sump. I ran a 350 with 2 fx5s. It did the job but you have to clean those things every few days the bio load is just way to high. I had about the same stock as what your going with. My RTC was 3 foot had, 2 oscars, 2 pacu, 2 dempseys, a jag, large pleco, Arowana, some earth eaters, and small colony of convicts as feeders. Every time i cleaned those filters there was actual mud in them.
Oh and i was changing out 200+ gallons every week.
