The guy had him in a bare bottom tank. Snapped a few pics but I want to turn the lights off and let em chill for a bit. Will try to grab a pic of the claspers once its swimmin around and I can turn the lights back onWhen he settles in get us a pick of his claspers if you can. Will be interested in seeing how big they are at this size. Also, what color substrate was he on? Most flowers his size will of already turned black. Some stay lighter longer but most flowers that have settled in with no stress would of turned black by now.
That's a very good looking ray, wait till it darkens, this is a very beautiful species in my eyes.
The claspers will be no more than 1.5"...that's my guess. The think with claspers they can suddenly grow without noticing significant size difference of the disc, so even if they are small it doesn't necessarily mean the ray will have to double its disc size to achieve maturity.
WOW Sam!
That's some growth rate. What was you feeding him on? I have never seen a 20" disc male Flower, obviously they will attain this, I know a couple of guys that keep them but they don't go on sites like this, they haven't got close to this growth rate and have had them for more than 3 years.
I don't go with the sudden death syndrome either but you have to pose the question, where are all the big Flowers? I have kept them in the past but never found them difficult to raise, they were dominant, greedy and on occasion aggressive, facts that have already been pointed out.
