What happen to The Panama Green Umbee

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It is all preference. I just prefer all
the others over the green. But that doesn't mean I think you're dumb for really liking them. I would love a green pair but there are things that I would rather have in the huge tank the will require. I honestly would own every cichlid species if I could afford to house them!

Well what are you waiting for then? There's no time like the present to become a millionaire.

But the comparison is more than likely the root of the problem of where they all went. When you compare his blue umbees to the greens most will say give me the blues without blinking. I have a feeling a lot of people were expecting a brillant fish like the blues, and the greens I have seen dont have that WOW:drool: factor that the other variants have, and when they grew up to be somewhat bland fish (remember umbees are late bloomers and tend to take a while to turn into stunners) they were more than likely sold or taken to lfs which most of the time leads to a dead fish. If you notice none of the comparisons favor the green, but umbees do have a tendency to disappear though after all the hype. Where are all the f1 general fry fwp has sold?? Im sure the same will happen with the gorillus to some extent also, and with the mag x's also. Very few people in the long run will commit to an umbee for life and hate seeing solo fish tanks wasting a very large tank by killing all the tankmates and would rather have multiple fish in a tank without massacres. Sad though cause umbees are incredible fish (love my mags) and more should keep but the honest truth is most will say a 200+ gallon with 1-2 fish is not an option. Espescially with naggy gf/wives complaining about the tank you spent so much money on and why it only has one fish in it lol. Luckily I dont have that problem.

I completely agree with everything you said. What people don't realize is even though it's just one fish in that 300 gallon tank, it's still so busy and far from empty. My 240 is actually starting to seem cramped, and they are far from full grown. They will be moved into a 11'x4'x3 in a couple months and even if it ends up being just them in the tank, I'm fine with that.

Also to add these fish only get better and more exciting to keep the larger and more mature they get. Tonight I just watched my Mag Male flip a huge flower pot from it's side to complety upright!
So cool!!

I love all umbees green, black , blue. I just think when these greens are recollected and grown out they will be amazing in my eyes. And I do agree most people don't have large tanks and don't just want to keep one fish because males will run the female down if there isn't the right hiding spots or dividers to keep them separated for the pair to stay intact. But hopefully asking out for these greens will have some wild ones on someone's list. I talk to Oliver lucanus and he said it wasn't worth going to panama to collect greens when there isn't a huge demand for them. If more people were he would do it because I can't get 3 boxes of umbees myself lol

Maybe a nice quality one would change your mind?

Do they all look like that? I hope not. If so, I'll never want one. And not a single freckle on the face. 200% show fish?. Gee.. Didn't have to say that.

someone tell the challenged there aren't suppose to be freckles on a Panama Green :screwy::duh:

a little less sucking off on other peoples fish and a little more time into yours might do you some good, but animal girl we love you too!!!
