Still Don't Understand FX5 Mania?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
using the 1 inch per gallon rule, I can overstock it with my one oscar and about 4,000 free mosquito fish, dosed with prazi.
He'll think he died & went to heaven. until I can send for a young lyonsi to toss in and humble him out.
!*JUST KIDDING*!

If you're buying lyonsi, you should get them from fishnvw, his pair is unbelievable. He is selling them on aquabid.

So, I understand some fish got a early Xmas present? I hate missing stuff...My computer has been sick to say the least. It was giving me all sorts of type o's (not that I'm very good to start with) so I'm still not 100% sure it's fixed but anyway (Gave everyone a long deserved brake:WHOA:). Got Tank stuff done!!! Going tomorrow to get my Synodontis that I've been looking for and he's grown already to:nilly:. 250 miles or so for a fish if you believe it. I'm trying a different pad on the FX5 it's almost like a two ply I also moved the bigger filters from the middle to the corner's.

I'm sure this is different for every tank but the best placement for input's with multiple filters still eludes me? I mean sometime you can see a big piece off lets call it stuff just float right past the intake?

this is why I stick to hob's and sponge filters...cans ARE nice some are even economical to run......but consider this...6 tanks aprox. 360 gallons run on NOTHING BUT ....hob's and sponge filters and at a total cost of about $360 ....and all the tanks are OVERFILTERED AND easy to maintain ... try that with canisters ...then think about the level of maintainence required to just get an fx5 to the sink (or outside )and clean (anybody for weightlifting....)no such need on an ac 70 ...but plenty of bio to support a good sized tank when coupled with a sponge filter...not ripping on canister owners but trying to give OTHER OPTIONS to those inclined not to pay for "packaging" and who want more real world performance:)

I like your make it easy attitute. My issue is I always take things way to serious therefore it always makes things so much more difficult then it has to be:chillpill:. If you get the Eheim 2080 it comes with wheels and for a extra$$$$ you could probably buy a motorized cart to tow it with......(JUST JOKING:naughty:)

My 2262 arrived.....
'you ordered that from marinedepot, huh? They are so fast in Cali. wish I'd thought of the price match thing, cuz I ordered from big als and got email from UPS a couple days later that "a shipping label has been made". wow, exciting. Lol.

well, some of my stuff is on the way but other things still need ordering. my email server has been very messed up.
Yes, I believe your drive for fish. nearest big towns are 4-5 hrs drive. I buy anything significant online. hubby sometimes picks things up for me when he's traveling, but that can be risky :-/

I searched there, nothing 4sale under that user name. and no lyonsi at all.
You're wrong
:raspberry

he was selling young'uns? I searched on there for lyonsi this week (pure curiosity) & zero results. which is fine, 'cuz I'm not even ready.

I have a Aqueon stand and the floor under the tank is horrible, meaning not leval at all. My tank is as good and level but the canisters underneath? Does this have a affect?
he means, if the cabinet bottom has a ledge, so the inside floor is lower than it, then it's too heavy pulling the canister up and over it. so lay plyboard down inside so you can pull it straight out for maintenance.

No matter who, some guys on here could save humanity by charging us for piecework.
SINCE IT'S SO EASY.
Lol.
Ya'all have no idea how jealous we are of the skillz.

I agree with you here. I would not physically be able to build my own. If I wanted a Sump would you all get a Brand name (Example:Ehopps ETC?) or would you hire someone to make it?

OH.........DUH!!!!!! I have a terrible time with the FX5 it's a monister..I just figured out you can drain it first..the first couple of times I carried it full:nilly:. But this does make me wonder does level affect canisters? I hope that question wasn't to stupid:headbang2?

apparently, the eheim 2262 is waaaaay heavier. due to all the media space.
