renton, washington
so heres my problem......
around a year ago i bought a 370 gallon tank.
i bought it right in the middle of moving into a house. when in my old apartment the landlord allowed fish tanks, bot now the problem is my landlord doesnt...
i have yet to set the tank up completely but am bothered by the fact that where i live it gets quite cold in the winter
and in the summer my garage gets very hot... not to mention the garage is extremely slanted.
what could i say/do to convince the landlord to let me keep the tank in the house?

Is your place ontop of another? If it is, that might be why. If not, ask him whats stoppin him from alowin it, honestly i understand not allowin like a dog or somthin because it could get off its leash but fish? Cmon, theres no chance of them shown up and your neighbors house, no one will be hurt by them unless they put a part of their body in the tank, and theres no allergy factor

Well you did buy the tank when he allowed fish tanks so tell him to let you set it up or give you all the money that you spent in the tank and he should let you set it up since you got it when he allowed it.good luck ;)

^+1, if you don't like it move. It is his house and water damage is a risk we all take, but not one someone else should be forced to. It seems like you moved from one that did to a house to one that didn't allow them. Did you check what the policy was before you signed the lease? If he won't let you have your 370 see if you could have a smaller one.

Not to sound rude, but if i was the landlord, i'm not sure how comfortable i would feeling allowing a renter to keep a 300+ gallon tank inside a house, regardless if there is another family living below it...

IF by any chance that thing leaked and you weren't home, that amount of water could do some very serious damage, and repair costs could go through the roof... so i have to agree that it seems like its going to be hard to convince him / her to let you run such a large tank in-doors...

But with that being said, it might be an idea to talk to the landlord and see what reasons they have for not allowing fish tanks, or if its only because of the size of the tank they are worried about? since maybe they will allow you to keep something like say a 50G - 125G... just not a 300+ Gallon tank...

Hard to convince him with a size of a tank like that. Either try giving him a large damage deposit but I would assume it be a huge amount...other than that I'd say move.
