How do you measure up?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
what i learned is measure structure in your tank (driftwood, rocks, slates etc) so when yourfish swim by them you get a idea on how big they are..

sometimes depending on glass/acrylic thickness it can magnify or de magnify (if that makes sense) your fish, thats why i chose to measure mine up when i pulled them out to vent but i like the idea of bassinmike to measure structures in the tank to help reference to the fish

A pretty effective tool is to make a pipe scale, its very functional because the fish is kept in the middle of the pipe..
Its just a half of a pvc pipe, with a scale in its center with the ends closed...

Something like that:

I dont think its very stressful, but anyway, if u want, after you can put the fish in a salty solution to improve its imunity.

By far that male 24k is the highlight of my bass keeping. I'm so happy I got him back from people that are cool as ice. True cichla keepers for sure. Hopefully HCR and I can meet up again so I can pick up the rest of his bass.
