hey how big are your sturgeon, im real interested in getting some sturgeon to put into a pond or a small lake on a property that im looking at, im wondering how much food would they eat, do they eat your other fish etc. Also does it get cold during the winter where you live?does the top of your pond freeze?

Thats a nice looking pond and its pretty big, but isnt it kinda small for a sturgeon? don't they grow to like 4'+? what kinda strain did you get?
anyways nice build, waterfall was a nice touch.

There are diamond, sterlet, and white sturgeon stocked. My cousin also got a few siberian that he is growing out. The sterlet is around 12" and the others are around 24". All except the white should be okay for life in that size pond. If you were looking for a smaller sturgeon I would suggest the sterlet. Check out this web site-http://www.sturgeon-web.co.uk/ and the extra links at the bottom left of the page. It has a ton of good info. It's popular to keep pond sturgeon in Europe and the UK. Sturgeon are mostly bottom feeders and these are fed a mix of chopped smelt and sturgeon pellets. I've never seen any aggression to other fish in the pond. They are just constantly on the move, kinda like a shark. Yes, they do eat a lot but don't all big fish? The pond temp drops to 48-50 degrees in the winter and gets to 78-80 degrees in the summer.

Awesome? What's gonna happen with the white sturgeon when they outgrow it?
