Ok, so the title of this post is a LITTLE misleading....
So, basically, I ordered a 3-4 inch arowana off of PetSolutions.com.
It will be coming this saturday. (in 6 days).
So, I am EVENTUALLY going to be putting him in my 300 gallon tank but he can not go in there right now because he would be chomped... The current stock in 300 gallon is as follows:
1x 14" Clown Knife
1x 5" Red Empress Cichlid
1x 8" Tinfoil Barb
1x 3" Tinfoil Barb
2x 3.5" Bala Sharks
1x 3" Leporinus
1x 6" Pleco
4x WC River Chubs
THE AROWANA WOULD GET CHOMPED BY THE CLOWN KNIFE!!!
So, I have a 20 gallon growout with A few growouts and a few permanet residents.... They are ALL very small ATM...
In There are:
1x Blue gourami
1x bumblebee cat
1x green terror (2")
1x African Knife
It has 3 aquaclears on it... and great airation. levels are great.
Im planning on keeping the aro in there until hes big enough for the 300 gallon...
I CAN NOT AFFORD A BIGGER GROWOUT TANK!
HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS:

1.) How fast will The Arowana Grow? (growth rate)
2.) What size until he can live in the 300 without the clown knife or others chomping him???

THANK YOU!!!

The Arowana will outgrow the 20 in about 3 months. If the 3" leporinus is fine with the knife I don't see why the aro wouldn't be. Grow him out in the 20 until he's 7-8" then put him in the 300

Well..... There WERE 8 leporinus to start with...... XD

I'd say he'll need to be about 8-10 inches before going into the 300, and a 20 gallon is not large enough to grow him out to that size. Growth rate can be anywhere from 1.5 to 3 inches per month until they reach ~18-20".

Lol gotcha. Yea like I said he'llbe about 8" in A few months. They grow about 1.5"-2"/ month at that size. I guess you could let him get to about 10" then put him in

Ok. And would pellet training him be the best choice when i first get him? if so, what type of pellets? I have LOTS of hikari...

Is it like they are still delicate until they hit that 8 inch mark or why does it have to be 8-10 inches???
