Firemouth Cichlids.

Can't sex fire mouths visually all ways aren't 100%. The best way is to vent them or get a group of 4-6 and let them pair naturally then sell the rest.

yeah if you want aggressive tho the only way firemouths will be is if they are breeding. all cichlids are aggressive at that point but imo i would do an active fish like a pair of severums or maybe angels.
i have a juvi green sev and he is really like oscars or jacks hell even flowerhorns. he swims right up to the tank glass and swims i tap the glass and he follows.

Don't really mind if they're aggressive or not. Ideally I'd like a breeding pair of firemouths so I'll just buy a bunch of them and let them pair up then go from there with tank mates. Probably do a school of Cory cats and a school of a type of tetra maybe buenos aires tetras or Serpais

A pair of severums would get too big.

What's going to happen with the fry if you're away and only have one tank. Do you have some place to move them?

Jewels will probably whip the snot out of fire mouths. I've kept them with sa cichlids with no problems as far as water parameters. They do have a ton of babies that don't have that great of a market.

I'd suggest a few geos or some severum to go with the fms

Yeah severums are out of the question. Going to buy a group of fire mouths once I clear out everything in the 55g would it be a bad idea to keep my Oscar? Had him since he was an inch big and he's probably around 9 inches now and I would hate to part with him

(I know people flame for having oscars in a 55g but I have a 155 he was going into but with going to school and everything isn't worth setting up) he will get a nice home once I'm home from school in a year)

I wouldn't put the Oscar in there he's already maxed out of the 55. Biggest fish for a 55 is 8-10"
