That's an EBJD. Mine was very normal looking when he was young but you coud tell he was more blue than the regulars. Watch in 3 or 4 months he'll be dark blue.

Thank you for your input, he was definitely more blue than all the others, I will continue to monitor him and grow him out. He had the nicest fins and was the most dominant in his tank.

It's a electric blue jack. With little coloring, it should brighten up later.
It does kinda look like a regular jack but could just show more of the regular jack trait rather then the blue jean trait..

Trust me that is an EBJD! Just that it was in poor water conditions. Im an EBJD Breeder....

Thank you as well for the input - is there anything I can do to help it a long? Or just to keep clean water ect. This is the first one I have owned and he is solo in a 55g. The tank and filters are well cycled.

So as it grows is there a chance that it will not fill in blue? Just curious on how the showing of the traits work, or is it just affecting it while it's young.

I personally would not have paid ebjd price for that fish. I just dont see it becoming bluer.

I traded in some swordtails for it so it didn't cost me much I may bite the bullet and order some online, not sure if it's a good idea to grow them out with him though.

Even regular jack dempseys are pretty blue, so he should fill in.
Water changes and good quality food like new life spectrum . Will help Brian out his colors.
