If it's a blue base super red, it can easily worth $4000 and more :O
Its not Blue base super red... AND blue base is used for gold arowana's. We refer red arowana's as VFSR- Violet Fusion Super Red

Good job saving him ..Poor guy!I cant believe the owner kept such a prized fish in green water..
I cant imagine the water parameters...Due to the Bad living conditions his colours are also not showing like it should at that size..
He has potential..! Water looks a bit cloudy....
If you do plan on keeping it then change the sides and back to black and base also if possible..
REMOVE THE WHITE LIGHT!! Reds should not be kept in white/light coloured environments unlike gold arowana's.
Get a tanning light(NOT ANY RED light) which has that UVA UVB factor in it..
What are you feeding him?

Brine shrimp, blood worms and rossie reds i breed myself. I dont have any other light, would it be better to have no light for now? Its cloudy because the guy dumped his water into my tank because he was afraid the aro was to stressed already to pickup in a towell. I will do a 40% wc when hes a bit more used to his tank.

Me keeping him is still on the table but i really cant offord him. Plus that tank has a red tail cat waiting to go in. Luckey i have a buddy with a monster tank up the road. Hes got my RTC for now.

You should have not mixed that water with your aquarium..
IMO,Dont do 40%...Do 10% every two days for 5 days...
Try getting him to eat some Market prawns,Its shell has carotene which will enhance the red colour.. Cut of the head and tail as it can puncture its stomach..

Really the only harm i saw in mixing the water was setting my perfect perameters off. His aro is the only one in the tank so it was his call. Personally i handle all my fish by hand.

Today is day 2 so ill do that 10% wc

True,Your perfect parameters were off but we dont know what all his water contained..How bad it was
Well anyway so far so good ..Do those WC's and lets see ;)
Do let us know if you plan on keeping it..
I think you should keep it,Try your best to keep it with you

looks like a leichardti

only if you don't know the difference between the two. Most obvious difference is the rows of scales.

Why? what is your reasoning for this? I wouldn't do a water change less then 50% myself.
