I'm 8 months in to having No Boat...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
And it sucks. Fishing has come to a screeching halt. To bass fish, the way I bass fish, i need a boat I can stand up in, which I cant afford. To own another boat, i need a truck to tow it, which i don't have.

But I am happy with everything else in life, its just that my fishing life has taken a punch to the stones.

End plea for sympathy...

Man a problem like that is almost as bad as a wife that doesn't put out.

What kind of bass fishing do you do that you cant shore fish?

I would love a boat to stand in though for fishing.. :(

Shore fishing is great, its just that once you've fished in a boat, its hard to go back. I know I know, beggars cant be choosers...

Nothing like cruisin around the lake casting at the banks looking for the big mouths. I like going for smallies also but don't tend to do as much mid depth fishing.

Try to score a small one at ebay. And as far as towing it just keep it at a dock.

There are many different ways to have what you want at a cheaper cost. Even if you have a civic you can put a towing receiver on it and pull a 14 ft jon boat that has a trolling motor and a couple of batteries. You can get said jon boat, trailer, batteries, and trolling motor brand new all day for around 1700-2000. Used, I got mine (no trailer) for $250 with a 30lb trolling motor, 2 batteries, 2 oars and the title. Craigslist is the bomb.

And of course for big lakes I have my bass boat (bought in 2010) for 7500 - it's a 2005 nitro NX750 with a 115hp motor with less than 300 hours and showroom clean. Only thing that was wrong was the line came off from the bilge pump and had to be reattached.

+1 or a kayak would work great for lake fishing
