Nothing like cruisin around the lake casting at the banks looking for the big mouths. I like going for smallies also but don't tend to do as much mid depth fishing.

This makes me feel better. :)

Going on ten months now.. shore fishing has its charms, but man...

Small boats with electric motors aren't an option. I've have batteries die on me, and even carrying two seems like a chore. There simply is no range with these small boats.

I know beggars cant be choosers.

kayak fishing can be quite rewarding and is gaining a lot of popularity

Dude, i would, but i cant get me head around such a small craft on the water. If something were to happen, you're done for. even with a pfd on. At least with a motorized craft you have the option of getting out of trouble quick.

Not to mention, i like to fish from sun up to sun down. I can't see me doing that in a kayak. Not to mention the range is even more limited than an electric powered boat.

Maybe if I was in my teens or early 20s... but now, i'm way to old for that kind of thing.

I guess that kinda blows my suggestion of a float tube out of the water. Lol. I know how you feel. My longtime bass fishing buddy sold his boat and is moving out of state, so back to the shore it is. Just look at it as a new challenge. ;)

14-17 ft John boat 15-25 Hp out board 25 35 mph and they get everywhere a bass can and can't go lol

This is a good idea. But I drive a civic. Thats part of the the problem. I need to buy a new vehicle before I even buy the boat.

i know quite a few anglers around here that are 50+ that have gotten so accustomed to fishing in a yak they can do it all day no problem but i understand being wary of danger and all that. there's definitely a different set of safety precautions for yak fishing but its a whole lot of fun when that bucketmouthed hawg is dragging you around the lake!
