Having my final exams at the moment, so I don't have a lot of time to fish.
The weather in The Netherlands also really sucks again, last year we had to coldest and wettest summer since the 1800's.
This year where having the coldest and wettest spring ever recorded.
The cold temperatures are bad for the fish their breeding habits, and the water is to cold for the eggs of bream, tench and carp to hatch.
I went to some of the most active carp breeding grounds in my area and their where no carp to be seen at all.
Besides that, the local fishing industries who used to have a total limit of catching 80 000kgs of Zander in their waters.
have received permission to now catch 96 000kgs of Zander. Ironically the Zander population is at an all time low and each year a lot of the profits that are gain from selling fishing permits are used to release baby Zander in our watersystems. Seems like the fishing industries is now harvesting what we have paid for.
I used to release all my caught Zander, in order for the population to grow back to healthy standards but I think this will be harder for me to do this season.
Caught this 21 inch fat bream the other day.
Within two weeks my exams will be over and my 3month holiday will start, again I will be back on my mission to catch a 4foot pike.
I will be back spamming this topic with big pikes and zander.
