Thanks a ton EVZ! Your info will surely help me. One more thing I want to ask is, can I put sand or small gravels instead of keeping barebottom?

i started with gravel , then went to fine sand , then eventually bare tank , the only reason I did this was to make gravel cleaning easyier and to help my filtration as ny fish grew they produced a lot of waste ( before I got the fx5 that is ) now I just clean waste out when I see it building up on bottom easy with bare bottom tank , just did it a min ago :D
 
New fish turtles you've got me excited hahaha , im still tryin to sort my Malawi tank out , I got a fluval Roma 240 stand brand new for £10 good ay , need to get my tank from storage tomz hopefully , git stones and new sand ready and waiting :D

dam that a good price for a stand i got my 40gallon stand for free with hood from my aunty her fish tank broke also it had a hood light
 
I'm always on the look out for bargains mate its the way to go in this expensive hobby , I look on local ads all the time there's so many large fish need re homing you can get for free , likewise with cheep equipment from shut down tanks , on the lookout for second hand FX at min seen a couple for £100 each :P waiting on reply
 
It wasn't too long ago that I got a custom built 5x2x2 with stand and t5 lights for £245 what a steal that was haha :D good old e bay , you need to start looking for stuff mate to help this big tank situation out
 
im not going to worry asbout it now in 6 months i will cause thhere small now also i got alot of saving to do
 
All good mate you've got ages , always be on the lookout though bargains ain't about forever :D I agree concentrate on what you've got for now plenty of space in that tank.for growth and new arrivals
 
yea i will look for a 8 x2.5x2.5 cause i could keep my barras for a while maybe 3years or more or build a 7x3x2
