Creepy old LFS still around after 13 yrs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have one about 10 mins away. Looks horrible and they have small mammals and birds and the guinea pigs are on wire caged floors which is a big no no so I'll never buy anything from them.

Get some photos ,between you and Doomiedee and possibly others we can make this a photo thread of rough looking fish shops.

Ill see if I could get some if I go to my moms house this weekend.

If another member wants to go take pics. They can pm me and I'll send them the address.

I haven't gone back to look for the owner yet. Maybe tomorrow.
There is no Socal guy monitoring this thread??

Just dropped by and snapped a few pics. The door was locked n nobody was inside. I couldn't find the store hours anywhere. Looks like they did some major clean up too. The right side of the store got some stuff going on so the small store becomes even smaller. This is Mermaid Tropical on Garden Grove blvd. I'm sure people in OC have passed by the place. Here's the Yelp page

I'm planning to come back and talk to the owner to see what's the deal.

 Ive been here!! a few times!! While there, I got the feeling the proprietors were LIVING there, I mean once there was nobody in there but some kids playing PS3, once I showed up and it was obviously lunch time. My guess is some guy lives there and just threw a "Mermaids" sign on his collection.

That's not even bad. The worst I've been to in Socal is http://www.yelp.com/biz/atlantic-.[..."you can smell decomposition in the air"LMAO!

There's a small LFS outside San Antonio(north) that is always empty but yet it's been there for 20 years or more. I went there once in the early 90's and they were expensive. Most fish were the plain jane type. I don't know how they are still around.

That's not even bad. The worst I've been to in Socal is http://www.yelp.com/biz/atlantic-tropical-artesia. Water so dirty I couldn't even make out red devils in the tank.
They did some major renovation though. Too bad I didn't take any pics before.. but either way the fish look like they got a better homes.
