Im BACK in the game!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Where are you seeing $50 armatus? I hate them being called Armies lol!

I looked at the 600 gallon today and its pretty rough. :(

Aquascape has them. Although they apparently don't have any tape measures around there, cause 4+ inches is really about 2.25". Ich is even included free of charge. :(

Pretty rough big tanks are a good thing, that makes them more affordable... :) Possible to buff out enough to live with?

I got mine from john at eczs for 55 ea and they were in Flawless shape

Last time i ordered from aquascape i was VERY disappointed so i didnt want to deal with them again

After shipping I still suspect they are $100 fish. I guess I didnt get as good of a deal as I thought as I had no idea they have come down in price so much! However scoring one locally for $50 is still cool!

The problem with the tank is that its rough AND they want too much for it. It was a SW tank that held a nurse shark for years. Not only does it have serious scratches it has some crazy amount of corraline algae and salt build up. It would take several hours just to clean. I offered $600 but they laughed at that. They think they can get $3k! Ha! Its about 15 years old too.

He still hasnt eaten any of the mosquito fish but I will give him a few days before I get worried.

Once he does start eating good I will net up some herring by the thousands and freeze and feed him that fresh. Until I get him off live, does any one suspect feeding live salt water fish will be harmful? Im thinking actually safer as I doubt many, if any, possible parasites can survive the transition from salt to fresh.

In the meantime I have thousands of mosquito fish and sailfin mollies literally in my back yard but Id prefer to feed him live salt water fish. Only catch is that I would have to drive 5 minutes every day to get them.

Ditto, got my trio from John also. In great shape and eating virtually right out of the bag. 55 each. Not sure on the herring and the
thiaminase issue but I know Mollies are free of it.

Just checked and it does list marine and brackish water herring as containing thiaminase.

Link to article: Has a list of fish, marine, brackish and fresh that do and do not contain thiaminase.

PS: Welcome Back!

Believe me, IF I could have ordered them from John I would have, but not an option for me.

I've tried buying fish from Aquascape in the past and the communication was so horrible we never even got to the shipping part, had to get a credit card company involved just to get a refund. Now that I actually suffered through it, just another vendor to cross off the list for future purchases, or even recommending them to anyone. There was so much that got screwed up by this order that I'm not even going to get into it. Hell half the reason for the order was for Vittatus they decided at the last minute they didn't even have cause of inability to ID. Overshot the shipping by $20, no tracking #s, day late screwed up meeting Rob, canceled rental van, screwed up entire weekend. So yeah, nothing nice at all to say about the ordeal.

The skIRWinny :irked:

Sorry for the rant.

$3K is a lot for a used tank, regardless of how big it is.

Sounds like you have a great hookup on feeders though! I'd set up another tank and start juicing up the Mollies!!!

What's your water like down there PH wise????

Here he is. He is VERY skittish so I added a little shelter for him. He loves to sit vertically in the leaves.

Unfortunately he still hasnt eaten and he is starting to get ick. Temp has been raised to 87 and salt added. Im not worried about the ick but I sure would like for him to start eating soon!

WOW he looks tiny in this picture! He is about 3". The airstone and plant is in the front of the tank and he was in the very back. The blue crawfish (which I caught today along with about a dozen others) is also in the back and is about an inch long himself.

Nice catch! I would love to keep some kind of hydrolycus some day, I'm pretty set with my bichirs and wolf fish for years, as long as all goes well
