After shipping I still suspect they are $100 fish. I guess I didnt get as good of a deal as I thought as I had no idea they have come down in price so much! However scoring one locally for $50 is still cool!
The problem with the tank is that its rough AND they want too much for it. It was a SW tank that held a nurse shark for years. Not only does it have serious scratches it has some crazy amount of corraline algae and salt build up. It would take several hours just to clean. I offered $600 but they laughed at that. They think they can get $3k! Ha! Its about 15 years old too.
He still hasnt eaten any of the mosquito fish but I will give him a few days before I get worried.
Once he does start eating good I will net up some herring by the thousands and freeze and feed him that fresh. Until I get him off live, does any one suspect feeding live salt water fish will be harmful? Im thinking actually safer as I doubt many, if any, possible parasites can survive the transition from salt to fresh.
In the meantime I have thousands of mosquito fish and sailfin mollies literally in my back yard but Id prefer to feed him live salt water fish. Only catch is that I would have to drive 5 minutes every day to get them.
