Raw or cooked??????

Is there any scientific proof as to whether or not you should or shouldn't feed raw or cooked? So far, I just see opinions and I'd like to know an actual answer. I don't see the downside of boiling shrimp for a few minutes, in fact I only see it as being a positive. It can kill bacteria. The only negative is that it could reduce some of the nutrition. I feed my Puffer raw shrimp only because I thought cooked was bad. But it would make my life a lot easier if I could just boil it for a couple of minutes and put in the fridge and not have to worry about thawing it every night.

Cooking shrimp negatively impacts their nutritional value for fish. There was an awesome thread about this in the past.

The other issue to think about when feeding your fish shrimp is where it's sourced.

Asian-farmed shrimp (and to a lesser extent Central American-farmed shrimp) are farmed in raw sewage, dosed with antibiotics that are illegal in the use and otherwise have all sorts of warnings for consumption by humans.

US-farmed is much better, although likely a little more expensive.

+1 Those cheaper shrimp especially the freshwater ones always get me nervous. I really enjoy stuffing tilapia with pellets and soaking in vita-chem.
I was also thinking quick searing food to kill any bacteria or parasites might not be a bad idea.

Make sure you set both raw and cooked to the same size serving. Doing this on a phone and it sucks lol.

I did. And then I tried it on another site with the same result. How the hell is it possible for steamed/boiled shrimp to have more calories, fat, and everything else when nothing new is added to the water?

And if you want another good read for some info just let me know. The two links are just something I found while searching. These are not the only information out there so don't beat me up to badly. You guys asked for data and there is something.

What I did find interesting is that with cooked to raw you seem to gain a little with the vitamins in cooked while losing a little in raw.
You gain minerals in raw and lose them in cooked.
Also ash content is a little higher in raw along with omega 3 and 6 being higher in raw.

Interesting stuff!

Its all very interesting stuff, I think sumtimes we can look to deep into things, I very much doubt if half the rays in the wild get as good a diet as we all try to feed our fish. Plus when I look at all these scientific results on things, five years down the line they end up telling you the opposite, ie how frozen veg was not got for you and now they say that it contains just the same goodness as fresh.
