Stuff is horrible. Was just enough sand for everyone to throw around. Looked really bad.:what:

Cool. At least I know its official now. Lol

Been using it trouble free for decades. Every tank but my fry tanks have it.

Heavy, cheap and ridiculously clean. 3 brands running....

I was gonig to ask the same question. I have been using PFS for years and never had a clouding issue. Not only in my tanks but this spring I just replaced the sand in my pool filter and it was very clean. By nature PFS has to be clean because it is used in pool filters. Playground sand, masonary sand, general purpose etc. however is very dirty and requires alot of rinsing before it is usable if either of these are not rinsed completly they can be disasterious cloud for weeks and containe quite a bit of silt. Did you but this at a pool store? I get mine at Leslie pools $10 for 50 lbs.
Same here never had any problems with my PFS either that's why I thought maybe the OP got play sand instead of PFS. Now I know you weren't asking me where I got mine but was asking the OP, still I'll say just like you I get mine from a local pool store(in my case DizzyDeans) and it cost the same about $10 for 50lbs. Also since people are posting their cloudy tanks I'll post one of mine that's using PFS that happens to be totally clear.

Doesnt even look like there is water in there! What kind of lights are you using I can never get my large tank to look that good.

I've used two different brands Quickcrete & HTH. I just used HTH(bought at Ace Hardware) this weekend for the first time and I'll never used Quickcrete again. I always have to rinse Quickcrete forever, I hardly had to touch the HTH. I prefer PFS to gravel.

Thanks for the compliment! I use 3 standard single fluorescent light fixtures, they came with the tank I got it secondhand from a vendor here. I think the reason it looks clear(besides the obvious clear water) is all the contrast in there, it makes things stand out better IMO when there's a lot of color contrasts.

Dude your lucky the Quickcrete didn't become concrete, I saw a thread where exactly that happened and the guy couldn't get it out of the tank. As for HTH I don't know what that is so can't give my opinion on it.

I think he means quickcrete the brand. The sell sand for adding to the concrete mixture. But yes, adding actual quickcrete to a tank would be a very bad idea, lol.

Lol! Wasn't sure I've seen some crazy stuff done in fishkeeping, could barely believe when I saw someone use it in another thread. I laughed to myself when I had seen it mentioned as I could only imagine the guy being like WTH!?!? and then trying to chip the crete of the glass, which from my understanding is exactly what he tried to do and unsuccessfully.
