Looking for a little SA aggression

Ah I didn't realize you didn't want a wetpet. Well they're from the wrong part of the world, but pound-for-pound I'd say jewel cichlids are some of the meanest out there. They are common, but you can sometimes find some of the more unusual species on wholesale order forms. They would make for a vicious community and they are easy to breed.

For that size of tank I think salvinis are the way to go.

Don't knock the wet pet route until you try it. I never thought I'd want a wet pet until I brought a red devil home and now I would prefer a single fish than a community any day.

My salvini pair was happy in their 55g. They were easy to breed too! Mine bred when I skipped my usual water change and I later came to find out that they breed in the dry season >.<

Of all the CA species, salvini seem to fit my desired profile more than any others. They have some amazing colors and don't get huge (another thing I like since the 16"+ monster fish don't often interest me either. The big downside for me is how common they are.

I am struggling with this decision so much more than I thought I would.

I might try it out one day. Maybe aggressive fish is the first step in that direction. :) But for the time being, I just can't wrap my head around the idea.

Once you experience the joy of your fish wanting to murder you through the tank you'll understand. I second the salvini idea I have one and love it plus they develop stunning colors
