hahah i hear they put up quite a fight. I can also imagine, I used to have a 2ft one grew up oscars believe it or not :| but he was a machine when moving time came, swam right threw the net smashing the whole tank up! everyone got free shower nice hot water lol.

O_O you can almost get a KG for that... I love my lfs but prices in Australia suck! anyways I go online for everything but fish,tanks & food.

Ouch my friend got bitten buy one, no broken fingers just loud screams and a bit of blood, he described it as a hammer with nails pounding on his hand!!
 
I ended up getting it from my LFS and they cut the price for me! They didn't know it was that pricey and since I was a regular I got it for $30. I was happy. Just waiting on my fine mesh bag to be delivered and I will put in my canister. Will definitely post some before and after pics! Really oscars? Usually Jacks just start hammering everything in the tank when they hit 12''+ your's must of been a little docile. I wish I could house mine with others!
 
hey guys loving the info and pics on the jacks i have a 9cm due do pick up in the morning and i cant wait!! i have a 6x2x2.5ft tank how long would you expect untill i would need to upsize his tank roughly??

They grow pretty quickly man, at 9cm the tank should last him about a year, year and a half max depending on how you feed him, water changes etc, every Jack is different, once he hits around 45cm hell be struggling with the 2 foot footprint. Best to upgrade asap because I know they're prone to stunting growth if kept too big in too small of a tank. But the 6x2 should hold him fine for a while :)
 
All the tanks vary in sizes man but too keep him forever go 4 foot wide.
Friend of mine has an 80cm Jack in a 9x4x2.5 and let me tell you its like nothing you've ever seen.
 
that would be unreal. whats the tank made out of?? my mate made one 10 ft long a meter wide n meter high its in his shed n the front pannel is pretty much the lounge room wall its unreal as well. he got barramundi in it. its made from sheet metal with glass front n half pannel on one end is glass

thats a crazy jack!! I like it. glass is 19mm on my mates barra tank. got my little jack he been in my tank for couple of days now and is goin great. got good set of teeth on him already and smashin live food and heaps of it.. great fish they are!!
