Still to small best size to sex them at is around 6-7 inches

Thanks I love his (or her) looks to. I still ca't wait for that nice white with the patterning. Hopefully mine gets that. But I am content with his looks for now.

It should most do although mines is more bronzy purple than anything else

Doesn't dark vs. light substrate effect the colors?

Not really, mine is on white sand and he is the darkest Jag I have seen in person. That is the case for some fish but doesn't seem to be the case with Jags.
