I know 4 people who this happened to with acrylic tanks and to tell the truth I was happy to see the back of my acrylic tank

Not saying it doesn't happen to glass but when acrylic goes it goes

happens to the best of us. countless times i forgot something running and made a flood. no sweat

Not rely but my 350 gallon blew a seam yesterday and water was everywhere. All the fish and rays were fine but i have no extra room for all the fish.

What a mess
I'm sorry to hear about the tank. Happy that all the fish are safe

You can prevent this? Just drain and reseal an acrylic tank? Interesting concept......
Yeah, it's the Furious Fish concept! He just spewed his "wisdom" to rack up his post count

Another reason I need to set up another big tank....
Glad to hear they all made it.

Our recurring and ever present nightmare.

Glad is was not a total disaster.

It was an acrylic tank. I forget the company that made it but it was 3/4 acrylic but almost 3 feet tall so it should have been 1" inch. But this company was known for putting an extra strip along all seams on the inside to do cheaper tanks. I have learned a good lesson on not getting cheap tanks.

It wasnt too much work to clean up. The carpet in the basement is super thin, i just shopvaced all the water out of the carpet.

My wife called me and when i got home there was still about 10" of water in the tank so all the fish were fine.

Everything is dry already with all the fans and dehumidifiers. We are gonna get the carpet cleaned and start shopping for a new tank. Looking for another 4x6 or 4x8 if anyone sees one lmk ;)

How old was the tank and when you say almost 3' feet tall are you saying just under 3' or 30". Reason I ask is my new 600 is 30" tall and 3/4" thick. Also did it have a full piece of acrylic for the top with cut outs or just bracing.
