Cat saves boy from being mauled by dog

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the thing is ..the dog should never be in a position where it ca go next door and attack a kid, that's on the OWNER... if your dog displays any signs of this type behavior ,it's on you ...if you aren't sure if that's it's nature ,it's on you...if it bites somebody that it isn't supposed to (that case being an intruder / attacker) it's on you ...there are no exceptions albeit it is possible for mitigating circumstance (first time behavior) in AMOUNT of culpability....
Exactamundo!...it is the owner's responsibility to make sure the dog is taken care of and no harm comes to it AND more importantly the dog does not harm anyone else.Whether or not the dog acted on it's own is moot in the eyes of the law.It is the owner who must answer for the dog's actions.

crazy if i am not reading this right, please correct me if I am not. this pootch attacked a toddler, no matter breed, in his own yard. this pootch needs a 45 in the head. can not blame the dog argument? who gives a flying rip, we put people down all the time for good reason, if given the chance that pootch would have ripped the kid apart. whole argument is ridiculous. Dog DMG goods just like allot of people and needs to be removed.

Do we know the dog even has an owner and isn't a feral or starving stray? I've been attacked by dogs... 5 different times, 4 of them were feral on an isolated loosely populated native Indian reservation, and one was in the projects area of buffalo and charged me in the middle of the night. Had my skateboard so I kicked it up and smacked it with it and called animal control once it ran away. First 4 never got close enough to bite(thank you roman candles).

Dogs are predators, simple as that. If the owner couldn't train the dog to NOT think of humans as prey then its 100% owners fault. If it is a long time stray, feral, or starving then its on the dog, but it's really on whoever let the dog get away in the first place or the parents of the dog.

I LOVE cats, that's just another reason to add to the list (that it defended the child). I've met some mean cats that will totally attack unprovoked. My buddies cat was just evil, it would lurk high up on furniture the stairs or bookshelf and just latch itself on the top of your head and dig its claws in. It did stop once it got older though. I currently have 3 kitties, one is a chausie x siamese (the most beautiful cat ever), one is a black rescue from some abandoned house (his head is like tilted permanently, so when it tilts its head its like straight sideways haha, other then that happy and healthy) and the other is a feral who I domesticated when I was like 10. She had kittens in my garage and I started feeding her and hanging out with her since my N64 was setup in the garage.

If the cat likes you they can become docile very very fast. She's ancient now but can still take down a bunny and bring me the head haha. Shed totally attack to defend me, I've saved her from a big ol raccoon that took half her ear off (thank you pellet rifle).

Moral of this story, to me at least, is keep a damn good eye on your child. The way that dog sauntered up clearly gave the parent who was nearby time to react, and that random dogs are dangerous until you know more about their personality.

Oh I'm all for euthanasia, my take on the whole it was the dogs decision thing is a dog that does something like that obviously has issues. Those issues could be bad breeding related or lack socialization or a owner who is negligent with a aggressive animal. I'm not defending the dog. Like I said I'd put it down myself given the chance. I just don't blame it, I blame stupid owners.

That dog is to fat to be a stray. I've seen hundreds of strays over the last 4 years at my shelter. A starving one wouldn't be that fat

there no fault to her, dog came from around the back of the SUV. and the ideal that i have to watch for stray killer dogs in my neighborhood when my kids out is again just plain crazy.

It wasn't a random dog, the news said the parent recognized it as a neighbor's dog.

Not blaming the dog has nothing to do with the decision to be put down or not. If a dog can be trained to not defend itself while being mauled by another dog on command, you can be darn sure you can train it not to attack random kids. The fault is squarely on a bad owner here. It's sad the dog will have to suffer for a stupid human. Until people are charged with assault for their animal attacks and not legally able to keep animals after the fact, you will see lazy owners neglecting and abusing dogs into this kind of behavior.

I still say you should have to own a permit for a dog and take a test, just like a car.

lol, yeah. At the end she leaves without the kid , I didn't agree with that, I think I would've scooped up the boy and taken him.
