what kind of special care, please share?

I've personally experienced two seemingly differing kinds of irwinis that grow at roughly 10x different rates.

really?? any noticable differences in apperance?

In my cleanest experiment, I've obtained 5 irwinis from one source (i-net seller) and one more from another (LFS). The one had grayish hues to the lighter colored areas whilst the 5 had more of brownish and dirty yellowish. Everything else looked exactly the same, body proportions, sizes all ~4".

In 6 months the 5 hit 8"-10". The one remained at roughly 4". Same tank. The one rarely came out to eat whilst all the rest were gorging themselves. So no surprise. Catpiled together. I cannot discard a possible intestinal parasite but appeared unlikely - the fish looked good, the LFS is solid.

IIRC, I had one more that was stubborn like that but there was no point of reference, no "normal" irwini in the same tank to compare to.

From regular reading here, I've met complaints / reports of irwinis refusing to grow.

In sum, it is an enigma to me still, albeit a nasty, secretive parasite would lend an easy and simple explanation for all.

similar to festae in that respect then, i grew my male i lost from 2 to 10 inch in 9 months... people could hardly believe it, clean water and good diet is my excuse... fact, fish grow faster in bigger tanks... obviously underlying conditions wont help, how many people actually do there weekly 50% waterchanges they say they do!?... i actually do 50-70 every sunday religiously, i even enjoy it...

I'm pretty certain mine was an irwini , looks a lot slimmer than the litho's in pics and the only spots he had on him were underneath , guess I'll never know either way I am still gutted I lost this fish :banghead: managed to find another PIC for better reference if it helps uploadfromtaptalk1401827785971.jpg
