Vape Lounge - The Journey, Our Journey...

Thanks everyone for the responses, I should've checked back earlier.

For a heavy smoker it's not about the big clouds you get from an RDA to replace the smoking for most, not for the purpose of quitting anyway. It is about the mg of nicotine that is in the juice you select. You will want to start off with a high mg of nicotine like 24mg and a simple, less efficient device that has a tank, is convenient and reliable like cigs were.

If you were to drip 24mg juice on an atomizer it would make you sick instantly. I would not suggest you drip anything over 6mg. This is why I suggest a tank so you can just focus on not smoking.

Here is what I did if it helps (pack and a half a day for me as well)

Level 1: Starter kit (ego batteries) and 24mg juice (close to tobacco flavor) and a tank. Put down the cigs.
Level 2: Upgraded to an iTaste MVP device (more efficient, longer battery) and upgraded to new tank. Dropped to 18mg and a sweet flavor since I could taste again.
Level 3: Upgraded to a mechanical mod with a drip atomizer and dropped down to 6mg.

Next step is 0mg nicotine. You don't want to have to have the headache of running around town and topping off a dripper all of the time/batteries dying. You will still use the tanks you have bought for cruizing around town/convenience. I keep my tanks a step up from the nicotine I am at now so if I have a bad want to smoke day I can hit that real quit and not take a step back. The nice setup can be at home waiting for you and something to look forward to. A goal to not smoke if you will.
Thanks J, any suggestions for specific system and their exact set up, I'm a menthol junky. As for the drip versus a tank I'm going to be basically home bound for the next 3 months minimum, having extensive back surgery so a drip may not be so inconvenient. My most important consideration is how close it is to a real cig so I can break myself off of them because smoking will severely hinder my recovery.

Justin explained it pretty well and I would follow that model. Being that you smoke 1.5 packs per day, like Justin and I both did - I'd recommend an eGo pen style battery with an Aspire ETS Bottom Dual Coil Tank. I'd recommend the eGo to have at least 1100mAh to help replicate the throat hit. Go to a local vape shop (they are popping up everywhere) and tell them your goal. They should be glad to help.

If you don't have a vape shop close to you and relegated to online purchase, PM me and I can send you some links.
I'd appreciate the links I'll definitely PM you, thanks.

+1 i would just start off with the itaste mvp as a beginners kit. beginner pens are no fun imo
Would this be a decent start and would I need anything else and how well would it simulate the cigs? http://www.fluidvapes.com/itaste-mv...currency=USD&gclid=CL299P3I8r4CFaFDMgodJwsADQ

I agree, skip the ego. I personally skipped straight to a cheap mech mod and an rda. I tryed a few tanks but they did nothing for me.
I'm worried that the same thing will happen with me. I've tried the e-cigs once or twice(cheap singles) and they did nothing at all for me. So I'm worried about just how good a system I get will work, don't want to wind up throwing away money.

menthol junkie i see, you got to try SMOOTHOL from NICQUID. best tasting menthol juice out there. buy a 30ml bottle with 18mg nicotine and mix a little of that in with any flavor juices you have. @koltsixx, thats exactly the mvp kit. start off with that then eventually upgrade to a better tank that goes on top of the MVP

the more mg of nicotine in vape juices simulates the "throat hit" but you could always blend 2 or more juices of non nicotine and nicotine to balance it out. like i said definitely get that smoothol from nicquid along with one flavored juices of your own liking and mix them together. smoothol goes with anything and it gives a pop in flavor

Admittedly I never smoked cigs prior to vaping. I was always a hookah smoker, so in order to satisfy my vaping needs, it needed to be tons of vapor.

A copper nemisis clone will run ya 40 bucks, pair of vct4s and a good charger 30 or 40, an igo W rda (drill out the holes) 15 bucks. Pick up 100 ft of 28ga kanthal on ebay for 8 bucks. To me thats a good start, if you are like me. You wont be able to do 18mg nic or the like with an rda and decently built coils but 6mg will very likely hit the spot.

But thats just me. I cant use an mvp or the like as it can fire at the ohms I like.

The beginner's mvp kit that koltsixx showed had a clearomizer so the mg of nicotine wouldnt be as bad. Usually the case is for everyone is to start with something small. rather not have a beginner try and build coils or understand the resistance and all that. they can work their way up.

I have a dripper as well but i enjoy not having to drip all the time and i like to simulate the cig hit. My kayfun is .4 ohms and i use 18mg nicotine. short hits to the mouth, then into the lungs gives me decent vapor and feel. 3-4 hits have me light headed. i'd have to say quitting cigs is hard because of the fixation every smoker is used to.

Thanks man, looks like that's more likely where I'll start and thanks for the suggestion on the juice. Can I ask what does a better tank help? Taste?

I never smoked Hookah so if any of those terms are crossovers they're going right over my head. lol Still I appreciate it and trust me I'm looking up everything you guys are suggesting and trying to make as well an informed decision as possible.

True but I'm actually hoping that this doesn't become another addiction. So going advanced right from the get go may not be all bad because all I care about is throwing my cigs out for good so what ever gets me there I'm happy to do what I have to. I hope to quit cigs by vaping but hoping to eventually stop vaping as well, my fish are enough of a drain on my pocket don't need another to replace the cigs.

Again thanks guys for all the suggestions.

This is why I rebuild. No tank puts out flavor like this. This build is even better than my previous vid

That's exactly what I did too and don't regret it at all. I noticed most people on ecig forums take the same steps jk47 did, which is probably the best way for most people to get started, but knew I would want to upgrade right away if I bought an ego device.

Came close to getting an mvp or itaste vv but I have bad luck with built-in batteries and figured they would eventually die on me. The basic round robin screens would've been kinda frustrating too (especially since I work on smartphones for a living), and the newer dna30 devices are still overpriced and limited compared to mech mods.

So I went with a nemesis and it's been great. Took a few weeks to figure everything out but I was vaping within a few hours and quit smoking 4 days later. Went from 30+ camel wides to 5 the day I started vaping, 3 the next day, then 2, and the next night I realized I hadn't had a craving all day. Of course that was while chain vaping 24mg but it was even easier quitting than I expected.

So to kolstixx, it's definitely possible to quit before your surgery but if u want something similar to cigarettes and don't want to get addicted to vaping, the itaste vv/vw v3 is probably your best bet. If u wanted to turn it into a hobby and save a few bucks in the process there's nothing wrong with skipping straight to a mech mod and rba as long as you're willing to do the research first. Most online vendors have super fast shipping (besides fasttech) and their prices are usually a lot cheaper than a vape shop would be. I had really good luck with ebay, just look for top rated sellers close to where u live

What are the specs? I can't go below .9ohm on my quasar because it feels like getting punched in the teeth with this high nic juice. Even 1.2 feels too hot for my taste on the kfl but 1.4 is just right so I'm saving sub ohm builds for after I drop under 10mg. I started dripping at 24mg but I'm down to 18 and dropping 2 a week since I make my own juice.

Might go lower next time tho because 18 has been making me feel kinda sick the last few days, did anybody notice any withdrawal symptoms while cutting back on the nic level? I guess u could just vape more if there were any cravings... I'm only vaping like 2ml a day as it is which costs like 12 cents lol

Thats a .22ohm coil. Duel parallels, 24ga 7 wraps on a 1/8th bit. Takes a sec to heat up but bellows. You can not drip 18 this low. This is actually kinda high for me now. Most builds are below .2ohm by a good bit. I simply cant vap any higher than .5 anymore now that Iv delved into the wonderful world for super sub ohm. You need a ton of air flow.

My air cap.

If you go super low you probably can get away with 9 or even 6mg nic without withdraw.

Any vapers here? Figured I'd start a thread for us to share "Our Journey" of quitting smoking of the 'analogs' or the 'stinkies' and switching over to vaping.

I've been a Newport smoker for nearly 25 years. Recently quit smoking tobacco exactly 64 days and switched exclusively to vaping. Haven't looked back since.

I started by vaping on an eGo with an clearomizer, then to an MVP2 with a larger clearo and have just recently started dripping with 6mg of nicotine.

I feel so much better. My taste and my smell is back and I can run without feeling like my lungs are going to explode. No more tar, carcinogens, additives, tobacco etc...

Any other vapers out there? What are your favorite flavors? What devices are you using?

Was that little blu ecig I brought over to your place way back the first time you had tried one? I can't remember.

I switched to Swedish Snus (General brand) instead of smoking. I tried vaping for a while but I tended to get head aches from it. I can pop a pouch of snus in my lip in class or wherever and no one knows it's there because there's no spitting, and it lasts a long time.
