Well, I've run into my first snafu today.

Bottom line up front, I can't get it into the house from the garage.

I KNEW that I had 36" doors. I was right, I do have 36" DOORS. The tank is actually 35 and 13/16th inches at its narrowest dimension. I figured that if I took the door off, I could carefully slide it in. Alas, I didn't stop to think about the fact that the door frame has been routed in order to allow the door to close and seal; meaning that my door FRAMES are only 35 inches wide; I have a half inch bevel on either side into which the door closes.

This leaves me with two options:

• Give up

• Cut the tank down to fit through the door

Since I was already planning to reseal the tank anyway....

Take the door frame off. It's not that hard

They're solid 4x4 frames mounted directly into the wall; it's a well built house. The various bevels of the frame have been routered out of the 4x4. Pulling the frame would be tantamount to tearing out a piece of the wall. If it had the typical 1x4 door frames, I would. Indeed, it was my original plan.

EDIT- or I might just sell the thing and buy one that will fit through the door with the money. :/

Where you have to reglue the top anyway it's the best time to cut, did you check the other doors to see if they wood be easier to remove.

I don't trust several of the other seams on this tank, either. I figure that if I have to re-glue it all anyway, I'm not really losing anything by making five cuts into the tank before I re-glue it.

All of the 36" doors are made the same way. There are several smaller, internal doors that would be far easier, but they're inside lol. There are french doors on the back porch into the house; but alas, I have to go through a 32" normal door to get to the french doors in the damn ENCLOSED back porch. Oh well.

I say, while you're cutting down the tank.. get some plywood.. extra 2x4s... some sealant... :D

Haha I had thought about it! If I had a place to put a tank bigger than this one, I'd be finishing the 510 though. ;)

In a few years, I'm hoping to knock down a wall and things could get really interesting then...
