I would probably go with the 4x4 more floor space that will be good in the long run when he grows larger. Usually all Lower Jaws slow down around the 10" give or take a few inches so he shouldn't grow like a weed, but he should at least exhibit some growth.

Congicus 20"-30"
Angsorii 20"-28"

On almost all of the Lower Jaw's sizes they can vary greatly. They all have a very high potential on size, but like humans some get bigger and some stay smaller. There have been some Monster Congicus caught as well as some Monster Angsorii, but those sizes are likely to be reached. However there are some freaks of nature that can and will defy the odds. As far as the Upper Jaws I made a different stat for the CB and WC teugelsi and ornates. The CB teugelsi's though I feel can't really be determined right now, because of their limited time on the market. CB ornates that I have seen don't seem to get as big as their WC counterparts. I left a lot of the variants off, because to be completely honest I am not sure that they will grow much different from the fish they are varied from (Ex. I think farana lap will grow same size as regular lap). However I have not personally been keeping Lower Jaws long enough to grow out a variant and normal polypterus to tell if there is a difference. All of these sizes are what I think they can achieve or what they will stay at. They obviously all can vary a couple of inches or so. These sizes are just basically where it will get and just making sure no one think a CB sen will reach 18".

So how accurate do you think the estimate on the CB Endli is? I'm assuming based on what I paid for my Endli's they are probably CB. Honestly I would rather them stay in the 14-18" range, this would give me better compatibility with some other fish I've been eyeballing.

How exactly can you tell if an Endli is CB? I'm assuming they will grow a bit slower too?

Most surefire way to tell is to ask your source.

This info needs a sticky~~~

there's really no 100% way other than to ask where you got it. And like some endlis on here they change ownership too much to nail down exactly what it is, but if you buy one from a store at about 5" or less its most likely a CB unless stated otherwise. I have yet to see a WC endli under that mark other than the Black Voltas and usually you have to be a knowledgable seller to know the difference. So if you go buy a smaller endli from a chain store its most likely to be CB opposed to buying one from here that is listed as a WC. And by telling if it's WC or not like I said there's no sure fire way, but you can usually make a pretty good guess by some physical features. Some notable ones are usually around the head with the eyes and length of the head. Usually a nice WC will have a more natural looking long head opposed to a CB that would have almost a bunched up head. These are IMO though some others may find other features. From what I've seen first hand with my WC and some of the CB endlis on here you can't really just tell if it's CB or WC by its growth rate. Growth rate can vary from fish to fish. And like you stated price is sometimes, but not always a good indicator. If a vendor knows what they have in a WC fish they'll usually charge more than for a CB. However some store just over price ish in general so that is really not a good way to judge if it's CB or not.

I talked to the LFS that I purchased them from and unfortunately they did not know. For now I'm going to assume they were CB as I bought them at around 2.5" and they were only $18 each.

Can we get this thread sticked? I find myself referencing doc's list frequently.

Great info.. I'd say the list is pretty much spot on.. If they exceed the stated sizes it's a matter of many years and if you stay in the hobby long enough to see that happen you're probably down deep enough to embrace it rather than seeing it as a problem..
