This is my last comment on this. Spend a little time on the net and you will find several studies that show browns displace brookies when both live together. I spent just a few minutes and found several. What they show is that brook trout when small do better than browns but as they grow the dynamic changes and browns take over. Think about it. Browns get much larger and are much more aggressive to the point of eating each other. Brook trout do not do that. That does`nt mean there are`nt rivers that are suitable for browns but not brookies, i`m sure there are. Browns can take slightly higher temps and that`s gives them an advantage but the key factor is they are more aggressive, larger fish.
and I can find more studies that environmental impacts is biggest threat to the native brook trout on just first page of Google alone. Most brook trout streams are heavily altered and degraded badly in MN, especially SE part and central MN.
