Why haven't Coldwater species have been popularized yet?

I dislike most colorful fish and ones with exotic patterns. It's like whore makeup for fish 
I'm having a hard time thinking of a fish on my top 10 list at the moment that is something other than a shade of mud colored or that has a pattern beyond blotchy.

I agree I think divemaster is pretty traumatized or just in denial.
NA catfish vs SA catfish.....no comparison at all. SA catfishes are badass.

Here are some California native saltwater fish
I had one of those...the 4th pic that was my dominant male (its in my avatar) i had to rehome him the tank became over stocked

And let me guess all the people that keep saltwater and spend $$$ on some of the most beautiful fish on the planet, did so because.....they never saw a pic of a bullhead or sunfish yup they probably didnt do their homework
Im not into saltwater but i can definitly see why allot of people keep them
